Privacy & Cookies

What our games and apps save, where it's kept, and how to clear it.

The short version

No adverts. No analytics. No tracking cookies. We don't follow you around the web, and we don't sell or share anything about you.

Our games and apps save your progress and settings in your own browser, so you can carry on where you left off. That storage is needed for the game to do what you asked, so the law doesn't require a cookie banner for it. If you put a score on a leaderboard, the nickname and score are sent to our server so other players can see them.

Saved on your device

These are kept in your web browser on the device you play on (using browser storage such as localStorage and IndexedDB, plus one small cookie for Brick Escape). They stay there until you clear them, and we can't see them.

Game or appWhat it saves
Solitaire, Snake, ChessYour settings (such as deck, mode or difficulty), your stats and best scores, a Solitaire game in progress, and the leaderboard name you last typed.
MTB ManiaSettings, best times and the leaderboard name you last typed.
Niamh's AdventuresA small note of your progress and settings.
Brick EscapeLevels completed, stars and settings. A small cookie called be2 keeps a backup copy of your level progress for up to two years, in case the main save is lost.
PlayvilleYour rooms, characters and outfits, so your world is still there next time.
Brain ArcadeYour made-up nickname, a random player code, the age range you picked (if any), settings, scores and streak. The age range never leaves your device.
BudgetBuddyEverything you type in. It's never sent anywhere, not even to us.

Brick Escape, Brain Arcade and Playville can be installed to your home screen. When they are, your browser also keeps an offline copy of the game files so they work without a connection.

Sent to our server

  • Leaderboards (Solitaire, Snake, MTB Mania and Brain Arcade): the nickname you choose, or that Brain Arcade made up for you, with your score or time. These are shown publicly on the leaderboard, so please don't use your real name. Brain Arcade also stores a random player code and a scrambled copy of a secret key, so only your device can post scores as you.
  • Spam protection: the leaderboards turn your internet (IP) address into a scrambled code to limit how often scores can be sent. The code can't be turned back into your address.
  • Web server logs: like every website, our web host (IONOS) keeps standard logs of page requests, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.
  • LAN HQ: organisers who sign in to manage our LAN party leaderboard get a sign-in cookie (DNDLAN) that ends when they sign out or close the browser. Visitors who just look at the leaderboard don't get one.

Other companies

  • Google Fonts: our pages load their fonts from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address when the fonts download. No cookies are set.
  • YouTube subscriber count: our own server asks YouTube for the number, so your browser never contacts YouTube for it, and we don't embed YouTube videos.
  • Links out: YouTube, MakerWorld and Roblox are separate sites with their own privacy policies and cookies, which apply once you click through to them.

Why there's no cookie banner

UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) says a site must ask before it saves anything on your device, unless it's strictly necessary to give you something you asked for. Saving your game so you can carry on, or remembering your budget, is exactly that. We don't use any analytics, advertising or social media cookies. If we ever add something that isn't strictly necessary, we'll ask you first.

Children

Our games are made by a family, for families. They have no adverts, no chat and no in-game purchases, and they never ask for a name, email, birthday or location. On leaderboards, please use a nickname rather than your real name. Brain Arcade only ever shows a made-up nickname.

Clearing your data

  • Everything at once: clear this site's data in your browser settings (often called "Cookies and site data"). This deletes your saved games and settings for dndgamers.com on that device.
  • Brain Arcade: Settings › Reset all data, or Export a backup first.
  • BudgetBuddy: use Export backup before clearing anything, as we can't get your data back.
  • A leaderboard entry: email [email protected] with the game, nickname and date, and we'll remove it.

Who we are

dndgamers.com is run by DNDGamersUK, a family gaming and maker project in the UK. If you have a question about this page or your data, email us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
